Dr Khoo is the Director of Medical Services and Chair of the Medical Council at Toowong Private Hospital, a specialist facility recognised nationally for its work in trauma-related mental health care.
With over 20 years of experience in delivering CBT-based group therapy programs for PTSD, mood, and anxiety disorders, Dr Khoo brings a wealth of knowledge to this important conversation. In this session, he will explore strategies for supporting first responders and veterans in their mental health recovery, with a focus on tools to effectively engage individuals who may be less motivated or connected to the rehabilitation process.

Dr Andrew Khoo. Dr Khoo attained his fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2002, receiving a college medal for his final year dissertation on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He holds academic title with the University of Queensland within the School of Medicine and has published and continues to publish academic papers in peer reviewed psychiatric journals.

· a member of the Department of Veteran’s Affairs Expert Advisory Group
· Deputy Chair of the Open Arms National Advisory Committee and holds the Psychiatrist position on the Consultation Reference Group for Phoenix Australia’s (Centre for Post Traumatic Mental Health) Centenary of Anzac Centre
· a member of the ACSQHC Expert Advisory Group informing the Australian Commissioner's Review into military and veteran suicide
· on the Queensland Police Service Injury Management Advisory Group and has externally reviewed mental health policy for the Australian Federal Police and the QPS
· the Psychiatric Advisor to the Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation (GMRF) and a member of the GMRF Research Advisory Committee
· a member of the Queensland Office of Industrial Relations Medical Assessment Tribunals.
He has also chaired, been interviewed, presented or participated on panels around Australia and across all media platforms on Post Trauma psychological reactions and Military, Veteran’s and Emergency Service Worker's mental health.
