Listen to experts in trauma research, workplace rehabilitation and workers' compensation insurance as they outline evidence-based approaches to support workers in recovery after trauma.

Focus

This session is to assist in understanding the research and best practice trauma-informed approaches to supporting workers and employers.

The presentation

Curated by Keith Govias (WHS Manager, EML), the session will provide insights from Professor Andrea Phelps (Deputy Director, Phoenix Australia Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health), Lauren Pearson (Commonwealth Account Manager, IPAR) and Tammy Alhalaby (Senior Mental Health Specialist, EML Vic) to the application of evidence-based approaches that assist workers to recover after trauma.  Professor Phelps will provide the perspective of research findings and clinical best practice guidelines, supported by the Phoenix Recovery after Trauma Guides.  Lauren will explain how the research was applied by IPAR in their Positivum Biopsychosocial intervention program. Finally, Tammy will offer insight into best practice approaches observed by an Insurer.

The Evidence-based support to Recovery after Trauma webinar will help you learn how to use a trauma-informed perspective to support and empower workers to respond and recover after traumatic experiences.

Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to understand the evidence base that underpins trauma informed recovery approaches and clinical best practice. The webinar will provide participants with an example of how the clinical and academic research has been adapted by a Workplace Rehabilitation Provider into a commercial product.  Finally, the session will also provide insight into a Claims Provider’s perspective on which workplace rehabilitation strategies are delivering results.
