- 4:45pm - Presentation by Matt Forster and Q&A
- 6:00pm - Event Finish
Presentation Overview:
Presented by Matt Forster, the session will explain the concept of "Psychologically Informed Rehabilitation" and Matt will describe how he approaches the assessment and management of a client with persistent pain, using a case study to demonstrate the key messages. There will then be time for questions and discussion at the end of the presentation.
About the Presenter:
Matt completed his Physiotherapy degree at the University of Queensland in 1996 and developed an interest in chronic and complex pain conditions early in his career whilst working in both the public and private sectors. He completed a Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management) at the University of Sydney in 2007.
To further his expertise in the physiotherapy management of persistent pain conditions, Matt undertook a two year training program with the Australian College of Physiotherapy. He successfully completed the final exams in November 2022 to be awarded the title of Specialist Pain Physiotherapist (as awarded by the Australian College of Physiotherapists in 2022). Matt is the sixth physiotherapist in Australia to complete the Specialist Pain Physiotherapist training program.
Matt carefully listens to understand each client’s story, performs a thorough clinical assessment and will explain what may be contributing to the pain condition. Pain is complex, and each presentation is unique, so an individualised plan is discussed.
